The Kentucky Horse Park
Lexington, KY
August 2, 2009

Rachel Bublitz, 16 year old vaulter from Parker, CO, won the One Star Kentucky Cup CVI held at the Kentucky Horse Park, July 30 - August 2.  She partnered with Oliver, an elegant bay American Warmblood gelding owned and lounged by Yossi Martonovich, of Little Spring Ranch, Golden, CO. Her solid compulsory scores and a high freestyle score of 7.387  put her in first place for the entire division. This international competition was conducted as a “test” event for the World Equestrian Games, to be held Sept. 25 - Oct. 10, 2010, for the first time in the United States.

Viva Vaulting!
HIGH SCHOOL EQUESTRIAN ATHLETE PROGRAM ANNOUNCED BY USEF

The United States Equestrian Federation announces the creation of the official
HIGH SCHOOL EQUESTRIAN ATHLETE PROGRAM for students in grades 9 -12.
USEF is the governing and educational body for all recognized equestrian sports in the US and is paramount in supporting our international teams and Olympians. This program is designed to recognize and encourage young riders and vaulters who train for and compete in disciplines recognized by both USEF and the FEI, the World governing body of equestrian sports.

Viva Vaulting! provides the opportunity for Elbert and Douglas County students to enter into the discipline of vaulting, a sport combining equestrian skills with gymnastics and dance elements. The documented and rigorous training program is open to all interested students; no prior riding or horsemanship skills are necessary. The program requires a one year commitment to ensure progress for the student and to acquire the hours necessary for lettering in this discipline.

Viva Vaulting! classes are conducted year round indoors and outdoors, weather permitting, at Stellar Stables, in Parker, Colorado. Unlike other equestrian sports, vaulters do not need be horse owners; individuals share horses for training and the costs of competition. This equates to a very budget friendly sport for a wide range of families and creates an opportunity for students to excel in a sport outside those traditionally offered in a school setting.

Viva Vaulting! is designed as a group class of individuals that bond as a team. The nature of vaulting training allows for focus on individual strengths while encouraging the whole person to develop physically, mentally, and emotionally. Vaulting success is not limited to those already athletically gifted; most students, including those with special needs, may also participate and benefit. Benchmarks allow an assessment of overall progress in individual training. Desire and determination are the necessary prerequisites to joining this amazing and exciting horse sport!
